Season’s Greetings From Minutes Before Six

Dear Readers,

We are very grateful to all of you who visit Minutes Before Six regularly and let us know that our efforts make a difference and our voices are being heard. Several inquiries have come in recently asking how readers can support MB6. Your support is greatly appreciated and there are several ways you can get involved:

If you like an entry you read on MB6, please take a moment to leave a positive comment for the writer. They receive all comments and your encouragement means a great deal to them. We get our fair share (maybe more) of negative feedback but the purely positive words are few and far between. We also encourage you to share the link of any post you especially like with others who may appreciate it.

The writers are open to receiving mail.  They are interested to know what you think of their writing and they welcome your suggestions for essay topics.  Please consider writing to one (or more) of them and sharing your thoughts about their work. Or simply let them know you are thinking of them during the holiday season.  Holidays are lonely for many and kind gestures of any sort mean the world to those who are imprisoned.

MB6 runs completely on volunteer energy and resources. The administrative team absorbs the costs of running MB6, and the writers compose and submit their work using their own personal resources. Stationary, typewriter ribbon and postage costs add up quickly. If you are moved to do so, please consider making a small donation to a writer. Some can receive stamps by mail, and others can receive funds through JPay.com. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.

Anyone wishing to contact a writer anonymously with positive feedback is welcome to send comments or contributions to our PO Box (Minutes Before Six, 2784 Homestead Road #301 Santa Clara, CA 95051). All mail and 100% of contributions will be forwarded to the writers. If you would like a personal response, please include a return address/email.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your interest and support.  We at Minutes Before Six wish you and yours peace and joy during this holiday season!

“It is said that no one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”

― Nelson Mandela

All our writers have their address listed in the “About Our Writers page so you could write a letter or even send a greeting card to one or more of our writers, or you can also write to them via JPay as well as contribute towards their costs.

The links below take you to the writers entries.

I think (from my recollections) this site has always had some censor policies. I’m curious, Joe, do you know what the messages say that are censored or removed? Personally, I do not want to get on a site and see a message for example that might say: “He f***** deserved this and let’s *** his throat and I hate this site and I’m part of the ***** groupies, and f**** and f****….”

Do you get what I mean?

I think that is rubbish and should be taken out. Now, you mention you were going to give a “substantial contribution” to Thomas’ educational fund…what is stopping you from still doing that? I’m confused at that because that is your own personal decision and your own money and if you wanted to donate then do so….what would change your mind on that? If you’re wondering if the money is going to the right cause then you need to contact the right people or ask on this site to show proof where your money IS going. I think jpay.com is how most people make those contributions and maybe that was where you were looking to contribute. You mention Thomas and his psychopathic ways and a while back I wrote a message discussing Thomas and his “psychopathy” and added my 4-1-1 since I’m almost a licensed clinical psychologist. I’ve done a lot of research on this kind of stuff and these types of people and, yes, crime itself and feel I can give an honest and educated opinion on Thomas and his “psychopathy.” Am I saying that Thomas does not deserve to be punished? Absolutely not! If I killed someone I’d be asking to be killed myself! Also, I *think* I have read previous post’s from you? Am I wrong? I’m just curious as to what has made you so angered here that you’re willing to leave this site and make your own personal opinion on deciding to not send a contribution to someone’s education? What am I missing here?

Your site lost a lot of credibility with this new censorious policy.

I have never attempted to post any comments that were inappropriate or mean spirited etc. Comments far worse than the ones I tried to post here are on the site!

I think the reason why all of a sudden, you decided my posts were inappropriate is because they cited indisputable evidence Thomas tried to blame his murders on a black guy.

I was in fact planning on making a substantial contribution to his education fund, but felt that beore doing so, I should ask this question. I want to make sure my money would be spent entirely on books and tuition, not commissary or what have you.

I like Thomas. I hate the death penalty. But at the same time, I'm not a death row groupie. Thomas has many great qualities. But at the same time, he also has a lot of rotten qualities and butchered his mom and kid brother.

As much as I appreciate his musings and his intelligence, I also never lose sight of the fact that he is likely a manipulative psychopath. Psychopathy is a mental disorder. If true, his psychopathy iscexculpatory of Thomas, not damning.

I will make this and my other posts public elsewhere if removed here. Apparently this site is strictly for those who uncritically accept Thomas' claims. Death row groupies.

You've made tragic miscalculation here, alienating an ally.

As many of you know, all comments left on this web site are moderated. One reader whose comments are frequently filtered has asked why.

There are several reasons why some comments don’t see the light of day on MB6. If your comment demonstrates that you miss the point of an essay, then it will be filtered. If you are consistently negative and your comments are perceived as attacks on a writer or his/her work, they will not be posted (nor will they be sent to the writer to which they are directed). You may feel the need to express these thoughts, but we will not be your method of delivery for them.

If you want to discuss the specifics of a writer’s case with him or her, contact the writer directly.

Negative comments will be posted if they appear to be fair and there’s a chance they might generate an interesting discussion. If your comment harps on an irrelevant detail or appears to be a dead end, it will not be posted.

The writers are contributing to MB6 because they believe in what we are doing collectively, which is something positive. We greatly value our readers and encourage comments. But if all you have to contribute is negativity, then I encourage you to find another venue in which to do this. Believe me when I say there are plenty of them out there.

A big thank you to all you amazing people who have reached out to the writers in a positive and constructive way! And thank you to all of you who come here every week and find value in what we are doing.

Anyone wishing to discuss this further is welcome to contact Dina at dina@minutesbeforesix.com. Happy holidays!
