My name is James Venturini, and I am currently finishing my twenty-fourth year of incarceration for the unfortunate killing of my neighbor which I deeply regret. Having realized the egregious nature of my crime, I have set out on an arduous journey of repentance on my long road to redemption.

Upon arriving to prison, my first order of business was to enroll in Ball State College where I obtained my associates degree in general arts and accumulated 101 college credit hours with a minor in criminal justice and history. I hope to find a pathway to ascertain my M.F.A. in creative writing through a correspondence course.

While attending the plus program, I began to write my first book titled “SUPERNATURAL PASSAGES AND POETRY SENT FROM ABOVE” which was published in 2022. I recently completed my second book which is titled “HOW TO HAVE ZERO LIKES AND STILL LOVE YOURSELF”. It should be published in July of 2023. I also have a third book written titled “TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY SATIRE” and look for it to be published before the end of 2023.

Writing has been my saving grace, and I have tried to utilize my time wisely by turning my prison into a writer’s residency. The man that stood before the judge decades ago no longer exist, and has been replaced through wisdom and knowledge, and a true sense of compassion for my fellow man.
