My name is Ian Valencia. I am a student of Northwestern University in search of my bachelor’s degree in Social Science; I have been an inmate in the Illinois Department of Corrections since the age of 17, it has been 15 years. I am a devoted writer but I am only now attempting to reach out and build bridges and test the waters of my potential to succeed in the field of writing. I am an aspiring author working on a novel, I am working through a few non-fictional ideas as well based on social issues and the state of society, and I love poetry and the natural raw release it brings. I hope to be seriously considered, but also to possibly entertain and just bring awareness to more of the hidden gems that are incarcerated.
