What Is Life?
Dedicated to my Uncle Harold!
By Christy Martin

Life is living and breathing. It’s about taking and making the best of what’s given you. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for God or our moms and dads who helped create us. What then when we are born? What is it we are to do? I believe now that we are supposed to learn and grow and become the people God created us to be. I think we are supposed to live a happy and fulfilled life. That we aren’t supposed to take and be miserable and unhappy. I have a certain person in my life that’s about to leave this world and I’ve got to say, waiting for him to take his last breath is a lot of sadness and grief on me. I’m learning through his beautiful soul and looking back over his life and me growing up, what god really wants us to have in life. Joy, contentment, and happiness. I’ve watched him with his wife and his kids, how he worked hard to provide and care for them. Even through his struggles, he provided love and peace to all his family. He spread the love of Christ to his loved ones and never faltered. I know life throws us curve balls but that’s how life is. I’m prepared now in every situation and even if the last day may be real soon for him. I’m not going to strike out, but hit a homerun so I can join him when the time comes. What is life? It’s spreading the love of Christ. It’s loving your family like Jesus loves you. It’s being happy and carefree. It’s not worldly things but looking toward heavenly things. Don’t let the devil have a part of it. You have power and authority God gave you. Life is meaningless; it’s like chasing the wind. But living life to serve the Lord and have joy is what life really is. Life is what you make it so go out and really live.

I See a Girl!
To my RSAT Girls
(One in particular – Emma Johnson)

Everywhere I look around me, what is it that I see?
I see a girl like you, and I see a girl like me.
I see lost; I see found.
I see someone hurt and I see someone let down.
I see girls that stumble and fall.
I see them with their backs against the wall.

I see a girl like me in a girl like her; like them.
Like one that is still learning how not to sink, but swim.
Girls that don’t know their worth and girls with unlimited potential,
still not found or fully reached.
Girls that wanna preach and some that wanna teach.

I see a girl like you and me that still falls on a bended knee.
I also see that girl, a girl in you and a girl in me,
who only really wants one thing in this life …
It is to be free.

We have all been hurt.
We have all experienced something in life to bring us to our rock bottom.
Look around to each other.
Everyone is either a Daughter, Sister or Mother.
So let’s continue to help each other
Let’s all rise together.
