While incarcerated at SCI Coal Township, Graterford and Phoenix, Larry has written, acted and directed over hundred plays for the Prison’s population, Lifers Incorporated, The Mental Health Awareness, The Victim’s Awareness Month, The Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month, The End of Harm Conference, Shinning Light, The Christian Community and for “Let’s Circle Up!” a Restorative Justice Program at SCI Phoenix in Pennsylvania. His play, “Fight Another Day!” was staged in 2015 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Feed Truths: short plays from inside America’s Prisons event. Larry’s play, “I’m Here for You” is a 2019 drama category winner for PEN America and he’s a recipient of the 2023 PEN America /L’Engle-Rahman Prize for Mentorship. His feature film, “Spiritual Warfare” is distributed on-line on on-line as well, along with multiple plays, screenplays,essays and poems. Larry has acted in many films, plays and was an active member of the Screen Actor’s Guild before his incarceration. A biography about his life, entitled, “Death by Incarceration” was published in 2017. Larry takes great pride helping others as a “Let’s Circle Up!” Restorative Justice facilitator, a student of (EFM) Education for Ministry, a volunteer hospice worker, A Just Listening facilitator, a student of the Villanova University/Phoenix program, a Certified Peer Support Specialist and acting in the “Shakespeare at the Phoenix Program”. Almost as much as he loves his family, Larry loves animals. By the grace of God, he hopes to see the ocean again someday. He is forever remorseful for the horrible choice that he made decades ago that hurt so many and that resulted in his Death by Incarceration sentence.
