I’m currently incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections (I.D.O.C.), at Menard Correctional Center (I’ve been in all I.D.O.C.’s max pintas and just got released from solitary confinement after spending four years there).  I’m 40 years old but have spent the last 20 behind bars, serving a sentence of natural life (life without parole) for a double murder.

I was born in Mexico (Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl), but moved to the U.S. at the age of 12…eventually the “street life” landed me in the system, where I started drawing to pass time and in the process, have become a self-taught artist.  It has taken me years to improve my skills but I believe that I’ve come a long way compared to where I started, with just a pencil or a ball-point pen.  Now I’ve evolved to mixed media (color pencils and pen), doing handkerchiefs (panas) making pillows, carving on mirrors and lately, I’m also doing oil paints.

Here’s some of my artwork for you to check out and my contact information in case you would like to send me a shout out (I speak Spanish also). Alrato!
