my name is laurie, and I am a retired Addiction and mental health specialist. I completed 12 years of college education and graduated with honors. Before that, I served 6 years in prison in C.I.W. in Corona Ca. In 1999, a cell mate gave me Alfreds number to write to him. He became my pen pal for years. He would preach the bible to me and our conversations would be of life and God. He gave me hope. I fought a life sentence and got 6 years. He also bought me a TV so that I could watch the religion channel. He sent me many cards of his art work. I was really confused on how could a man from death row buy me a TV. His words were always inspiring. I got out of prison in 2002. I have also been pardoned. My life took many positive turns and i did not continue to write him. I was cleaning out my old papers from years ago and stumbled onto his cards of art work i saved. I looked him up and he is still in San Quentin, alive. I will be writing him again after 24 years. Our relationship was a friendship from God and he was very humble in his letters. He would tell me that he had Jesus in his heart and that what ever fate was his, he would accept it because he knows he will go with Jesus. I cant wait to get his response.
