Caged
By Michael Wright

Awaken out of a dream by a chirping caged bird. I can feel it’s pain, but I cannot understand it’s words. What was it’s crime that it has been locked in a cage within a cage? That is double pain, so I can understand why it constantly chirps with rage, because like myself it is stuck in a cage. This cage has my flesh but it shall never entrap my mind. Minute by minute and day by day obstacles continue to try and prevent me from doing time. They try to silence my words just like so many caged up birds. Poor bird has wings and yet it is still unable to soar. Like that bird, my heart is caged but you can still hear its roar. Oh, caged bird, it is sad they have taken us from our habitat. Some day I will figga out a way for us to get back. I guess until then, all we can do is remain strong as we allow our wings to constantly dry flap.

Poem
By Michael Wright

From afar he saw a star, and within that star he saw her love, and within that love he saw which resides above. From above came the guidance of light, and that light lead to another sitting in a dark place, and when the two embraced they realized that there was no darkness that could ever take away the joy placed upon each other’s face.
