Taxing
By Jason Carlsen

Alone in a crowd
Enough to get you down
But if you look around
You see many others who feel like you
You’re not the only one
Realizable truth
There’s a constant empty void of tension
In the space between all who are involved
A word in all their minds, apprehension
Herded like cattle warehoused
Unable to be an individual
Not seen as men at all
Being a human with needs not allowed
Only your register number and last name is what’s always called
I feel like we’re all just a commodity
No rehabilitation to ever be seen, like really? Wow
Making money off of all of us, that’s why we stay locked
And are in no way free
In this America country
Where in God you must trust
Plus be brainwashed to believe

Self-Absorbed
By Jason Carlsen

Absorb the light
Then shed your light onto others
Everybody
Family, friends, neighbors, strangers
We are all sisters and brothers
It’s true
We are all human through and through
So we need to spread friendliness and happiness like a disease
Strive for moment by moment day to day peace
Just a little bit can give such a huge tension release
Share some smiles
That helps for miles
A friendly hello
When you can where you go
It’s about finding ways to make things better
Helps make moods feel better than sunny weather
Everything with that absolutely feels nice
When we all relieve some pressure and stress in this, the greatest thing
Life

Stable
By Jason Carlsen

Blank state
Peaceful mind
Only for this here moment in time
Mental health state shaky at best
Day by day
It’s always a new trying test
Will it be a good day or bad
I use my tools and coping skills
So I don’t lose it to psychosis and go mad
So far today, things are for me OK, I feel good
I hope and wish for it staying that way
Knock knock on wood

Purgatory placements
All the lives had faces
No remorse for what’s dealt
Waiting to be judged
I guess God don’t budge
On the decision of where next we will dwell
All forgiving and saving … huh
A warden
Maybe
Do we get placed in heaven or hell
Sounds to me like it’s one or the other
Like in prison but no undercovers
When God assigns you your next security level
Where do you sleep next
Can’t tell
Like
In what type of eternal trapped cell

Somewhere Out There
By Jason Carlsen

Somewhere out there
There’s people having sex right now
At least once in your life your mind thought of this
Thinking then saying to yourself … WOW.
Not at the people who are engaged in the act
Only because in life this might just be the purest and truest of all facts
While right now someone else is mowing a lawn
Maybe like me, right before dawn
Little babies cry, while someone is steady telling some lies
There are even dinners being cooked
There are people right now who just finished reading their books
Someone else is returning monies they selfishly took
Asking for forgiveness
There are others who are being pink-slipped from their business
There are people who are enjoying their local fair
There are monkeys at zoos who stay pissed at all the people who stare
There are some kangaroos bouncing with their homies maybe on the search for some food
Someone is breaking up because the other person is just plain rude
Someone else is being arrested for doing something lewd
While right now there’s 16-year-old kids who are getting their very first car
Someone else is on their way to becoming a major superstar
But right now, somewhere out there
There is no peace
Nowhere to go, last day on their life’s lease
Children very hungry, being born diseased
Can we help these people please?
The homeless, the elderly, the handicapped, the poor
All the families with their members fighting all wars
Our government acts as if this is just a simple chore
So right now, somewhere out there
We all need to stake to create and then make some change
Before another one of us feels and becomes enraged
Or even worse, that some of us who’s then enraged
Becomes nothing more than a number
Who’s locked, boxed, toxed, then caged
