Mere Words
By Daniel Warby

Every day I wake up in a mental hell
Inside this painted white, brick cell
All by myself
In my own concrete shell

Day after day, check-ins talk shit
I do not respond, I internalize it
But what are mere words
When they come from some bitch?

Every day is a war of words behind doors
Screamed at the top of the lungs by some whore
Silence is seen as weakness
But they just scream even more

They scream, and they yell, and they pound the desk
Everything puts my patience to the test
But these are mere words
“Sticks and stones” and the rest…

Never Written
By Daniel Warby

Somewhere beyond the stars
Is a place we’ve never seen
And deep within our hearts
Is a soul that needs to sing

Stories never written
Will be stories never told
Time won’t stop and listen
To our musings when we’re old

Love Freely
By Daniel Warby

Love cannot be priced
Or bought within the markets
But given freely

If your love is earned
I no longer want your wares
The cost is too much

Lukewarm
By Daniel Warby

Are you on fire for God?
Or on fire for the world?
Are you growing cold
Towards God’s teachings unfurled?
The Lord’s refining fire,
Where the coals are kept hot,
Is there for our refining
Parting silver from dross

This fire is spiritual
The flames come in form
Of testing, adversity,
Depression, and more
The idea is this,
In the fire and the storm;
In God’s refining furnace
You can’t stay lukewarm

The Enemy uses these
To bring you to not
His goal is to kill you
And make your soul rot
But the Lord will use these
For your good in his forge
In the Lord’s refining furnace
You can’t stay lukewarm
Are you walking with God?
Or have you yet to repent?
You can’t be in His Kingdom
And still be on the fence

A Perfect Dream
By Daniel Warby

I walk through the park
I walk with my wife and child
We play on the cool grass

Birds chirp and bees hum
Clouds drift through the bright blue sky
“I love you, Daddy.”

I wake from this dream
Still in my eight by twelve cell
I’m all by myself

A Sermon
By Daniel Warby

When I look around me
Sometimes all I see are bums
Bums that once were fathers
And bums that once were sons
They darkness within them eats their souls
Leaving behind just flesh and bones
For this they blame their circumstances
Or their broken childhood homes
They blame their abusive fathers
They curse their wayward mothers
Youngsters sell their souls to prison gangs
They call these people brothers
They go home and beat their wives
In front of their small kids
Then their kids grow up to live
Just like Daddy did
This cycle never ceases, no
This poem never ends
It just gets worse with every reading
All because someone needed friends
I’m walking through a graveyard
God asks me what I see around
When I walk among their tombstones
With their bodies in the ground
When I look around me
All I see are bums
Bums that once were fathers
And bums that once were sons…

Basic Instructions
By Daniel M. Warby

Basic instructions before leaving earth
Is what is written in the Bible
He reveals Himself to us
And gives us laws for spiritual survival

It may not explain dinosaurs,
Gravity, or atomic energy
But it has much to say on
God, your soul, and your eternal destiny

There are things within our lives
Some would deem as more important
But when our bodies die
What will be our portion?

To love God and to love people
Are the sum of His Commands
And when we at times fall
He picks us up with nail scarred hands

Behind Doors
By Daniel M. Warby

Anger flows through me
My eyes see nothing but red
The beast is unleashed

I want to do harm
To those who have slighted me
I clench my right fist

They talk through steel doors
Because I cannot reach them
With my violence

They laugh and they mock
As they practice empty threats
This door is their shield

Silence takes over
The door slides on its chain
The mocked one steps forth…

Bless Her
By Daniel M. Warby

God curses those who curse Israel
And blesses those who bless her
I wish that those who live today
Would read about this in scripture

Her death is being shouted for
From colleges across this nation
Our leaders would see us destroyed
For cursing God’s chosen nation

Satan shouts for bloodshed
To all who would hear his call
Israel is his target
The dragon would see her fall

Those without God’s Holy Spirit
Fall easily into this lying trap
Even America has veered
Away from her Christian path

But Christ is coming back,
You’d do well to learn that meaning,
Or you may be left behind
While the rest of us are leaving

Castles of Cloud
By Daniel M. Warby

The sky is a sea
The clouds are its ships
Floating above us

Or they could be land
That is here today
Yet gone tomorrow

Like the one watching
For castles of cloud
Here today then gone

Come to the cross
By Daniel M. Warby

Come to the Cross
Where for sins our Savior died
It’s the only way to cross
Over from death to life

Dear God
By Daniel M. Warby

Do not allow me to
Be separated from You
Even as my own country
Loses its biblical truth
I hear of dark times
In distant lands
But now they’re not distant
They have now reached our sands
It seems that America
Has somehow lost her way
Your Word said it would happen
As we approached Your blessed day
There are so many standing
That are about to fall
Don’t let my soul be counted
Among those fallen at all

Dear Wyoming D.O.C.
By Daniel M. Warby

Let me just start by saying
Everything you do is shady
You have no real authority
If you think you do, you’re crazy
You protect chi-mos and rapists
To the point it is a hate crime
To fight a sex offender
For snatching kids at playtime

You fuck with all our money,
You fuck with all our mail,
Sorry, for my cursing, but
You’ll find more of that in Hell

You trash our faith-based freedoms
For the sake of policy
You lie about our write-ups
The proof’s for all to see
You sit and lie to the public eye
When the attention gets too heavy
Because just one real investigation
Would prove these accusations steady

Evil Men
By Daniel M. Warby

Nothing is ever what it seems to be, my children
Man is the most corrupt being on this entire earth
Do not conform to evil men or you will die

Forgotten
By Daniel M. Warby

There are times I feel forgotten
In this white brick cell Ilive in
In this corrupt state pen

I try hard to keep my head up
To remember that God is near
But I always feel that I’m drowning

I’m here for a charge I haven’t committed
For a bitter cop that lied
And this prison gets paid to hold me

The world outside has no time
For a forgotten felon like me
As the government itself falls apart

But I still hold on to hope
That the King of kings and Lord of lords
Will break down these prison walls
