Life and Death Row are one and the same. Scores of innocent people have been exonerated, and hundreds more have been released. The Death Penalty Information Center reports that 144 Death Row inmates have been exonerated since 1973. According to the Innocence Project, there have been 316 post-conviction DNA exonerations in the United States. Eighteen of the exonerated prisoners spent time on Death Row. Even after an exoneration the trauma is so severe that most will never function the same in society. Meaning, death still haunts any survivor who is lucky enough to avoid Death on the Row.
An indeterminate Life Sentence is a slow death process that has been prolonged by a bias Parole Board. In most cases, a decision has been reached before entering a Parole Board hearing. There is little to no way for three Parole Board members to meet an inmate for the first time and determine whether he/she should be released after serving 20 plus years, or more. The instant offense is a well-known reason to deny freedom. As if something that happened 20 years ago holds all the weight to decide. It is hardly ever who have you become, but rather who you were that determines a swift denial. 20 years later!
There is only one reason why this Life = Death Row practice is so prevalent, to this day. Judges, District Attorneys, and Detectives who investigate are never, ever held accountable for getting it wrong. In too many cases to count, the ‘getting it wrong’ prospect was strategically packaged to convict a known innocent person to reach a quota. That quota being, modernize slavery of black and brown people.
Case and point: out of the 144 exonerated, how many Judges, District Attorneys, or Detectives were held accountable for the mismanagement of an innocent life??? NONE!!! Out of the 316 exonerated, with the help of the Innocent Project, how many Judges, District Attorneys, or Detectives were held accountable for sending an innocent person to prison when the evidence did not support a guilty verdict??? None!!!
That is the problem! How does a Judge get immunity when overseeing a life condemned to die in prison. History has taught us that Judges are not fair! Not saying all of them, but if one is unfair that is too many. The Judge is the one who looks at all the evidence, and makes all the rulings, which is supposed to balance the scales of justice. The Judge is the deciding factor in who lives, and who dies, even more so than the Almighty God.
Again, an indeterminate Life Sentence = Death! Especially, when the Parole Board will consider a Judge’s, District Attorney’s, or Detective’s Letter of opposition 20 plus years after the instant offense. The Detective built the case, the District Attorney tried the case, and the Judge handed down a sentence. It is mind boggling how the court case has been closed, yet, the courts still have a say in your release, based on 20-year-old information!
If a Judge is stripped of immunity and could face prison time for sentencing anyone innocent to Life = Death Row. I promise you, that nonsense would stop!!! The Judge becomes bias when there is zero constitutional checks, and consequential balances to consider. How can any court room have the words ‘In God We Trust’, but it is the representatives who are playing the role of God! Humans are not infallible! We are all subject to human error, major errors, more so, than harmless ones. In the case of the Injustice System, it has never been about justice, but the same culture of systemic racism that is a historic theme of America.
No accountability!!! Just to be clear, this is not an expression to hate on whites. I LOVE MY WHITE PEOPLE!!! However, I am not going to pretend as if racism is not a factor in the constant injustices that plague this world. It is more than a conversation that needs to be held, something must be done from every race, color, and creed to fix this diseased sickness. Just like the civil rights movement, I have seen the old footage, and I have seen a lot of whites marching with Black’s. A LOT!!! Quite a few have died supporting a righteous cause, not a black one. But back to Life = Death Row!
Judges, sometimes, are misled by the District Attorney, who collaborates with a crooked Detective just to get a conviction, guilty or not. However, if a Judge has no immunity the Judge will be keener on evaluating evidence when a case is tried. For sure, the Judge will uphold the law based on the evidence presented to try a case to avoid constitutional checks, and consequential balances. When all parties are held to no immunity standards, it leaves no room for choosing a side that goes outside of the law.
District Attorneys should not have immunity as well. How is it that the people who are responsible for Life = Death Row sentences have immunity, even when corruption has been proven to be the case??? This makes absolutely no sense! District Attorneys should be held accountable for withholding evidence to prove innocence. How is it that an innocent person can serve 20 plus years of their life for a crime they did not commit, the District Attorney knew this before trying the case, but the District Attorney walks away with a full pension, and never has to answer a single question about the foul play imposed??? Detectives who are found have broken the law that they have sworn to uphold should be charged and then tried just like the criminals they are.
In God We Trust, but we lose trust in God when he is being used as a guise to charge, try, and convict innocent people for crimes they did not commit. Even worse, the person who really committed the crime is free to commit more crimes. So, how is any of these institutions making the world a safer place??? This causes more harm than help when the innocent is imprisoned, but the guilty are free to roam!
The people in these powerful positions need to know their limits. No one should feel untouchable, or above the law, and that is exactly what happens when there are no constitutional checks, and consequential balances. It’s like giving a criminal the combination to a safe full of money and telling him not to open it. Or, giving a bank robber a job as a bank teller. Or, giving a Judge and District Attorney the power to take a life, and even if you destroy someone innocent, don’t fret, you have immunity! This is insane.
The court system is a protection agency for all those involved to abuse the law by enforcing unlawful tactics to dehumanize the minority. It has been this way since the beginning of the oxymoronic criminal justice system. The court system has never, ever been fair. All they have done is switch the presentation to hide what was once blatant injustice. Back then, our cries went unheard because we were crying out to the people in charge who committed unjust acts. That’s like complaining to a lioness about her cubs! The end result is you are most definitely going to be eaten alive.
Life = Death Row is a life sentence to death, and a death sentence is the ultimate end. Even if the guilty is proven to be innocent the innocent experience death from within. The court system won’t listen when the pain they’ve inflicted brings joy in a world where they win. In God We Trust, but when is enough going to be enough of these Godforsaken unlawful sins …AMEN!!!
