My name is Thomas Weatherwax, and this wisdom comes with one important caveat to be noted – motivation; We have to be willing to step out of our comfort zone and let some level of anxiety enter our lives. This calls for a purpose, or cause, we can strive for. The lack of purpose in our lives can cause any encounter with anxiety/tension to be seen as uninitiated, and therefore unwelcome, which, if we are not careful, can lead to overwhelming distress – A harmful contaminant to any aspirations of growth without the right frame of mind to keep us upright. As an inmate who has experienced various scaffolds of tension in serving a 30 year sentence for a crime I didn’t commit, I recognize the power of motivation, and how the level of any anxiety/tension we do experience, in order not to be overwhelmed, must be counterbalanced by an equal – if not greater – level of motivation. So, as much as this has been an homage to growth and the pursuit of it, it cannot be wholly corroborated without the proper pairing of its driving force, motivation.
