My name is Shakeil Price. I am currently serving a life sentence at New Jersey State Prison. I have been incarcerated since 2008. I am a proud father of four; two girls, two boys. I love reading and studying ancient African cultures. I enjoy writing poetry because it allows me the freedom of expression that my enslaved ancestors never got a chance to experience.

Shakeil Price is a true and living God, proud member of the Nation of Gods & Earths.  He is a devoted father of four, born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  He is an independent Hip Hop artist and published author.  In 2007, he and his cousin Realz tha God formed the rap duo Blood Cuzinz and released the album, “Blood thicker than Water” on his indie label, Str8 Hood Azz Knucca Ent.

Shakeil has published articles as a freelance journalist for Prison Writers and as a contributing writer for the Prison Journalism Project.  As of today, Shakeil remains incarcerated as he fights to overturn his murder conviction.
