I’m so sorry for the way we met,
I just pray you don’t have any regrets.
I know it’s not easy loving someone on Death Row,
I know it’s very hard on your soul.
Visiting me through glass brings you the blues,
But I thank you for helping me walk in my shoes.
Despite the pain and strife,
I feel so happy that you are in my life.
Thank you for holding my hand as we walk through these miles,
Thank you for all the wonderful smiles.
I can see the sadness in your eyes,
Soon we will have to say “goodbye”.
I can see that your heart is breaking,
For your bottom lip is shaking.
I wish I knew how to stop your tears,
I wish I knew how to take your fears.
I wish I could stop you from crying,
I know that time is flying.
Please try to smile,
We’ll only be apart for a while.
It’s almost time for me to leave,
Please be strong and try to breathe.
I wish I could stay to hold to your hand,
But God has a bigger plan.
Christ will carry me in His arms,
No longer will I be in harm.
No longer will I see bars and concrete,
I will finally be free.
From a cell to a mansion,
All because of His love and passion.
I’ll miss you like crazy,
I’ll love you daily.
From heaven above,
I’ll continue to send you love.
I know you’ll feel lonely and lost,
But you must continue to follow the cross.
I must go to the gurney,
To continue my journey.
I’ll Christ to watch over you,
‘Till your time is through.
Thank you for all the love you’ve shown,
But from here I must walk on my own.
I don’t want you to see,
How they will execute me.
Instead I want you to remember,
All those special moments we spent together.
