The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has introduced a new rule in its Offender Orientation Handbook stating that “offenders are prohibited from maintaining active social media accounts for the purposes of soliciting, updating, or engaging others, through a third party or otherwise.”
Pending legal clarification of the new Texas Department of Criminal Justice offender rule #4, regarding the use of social media in support of prisoners, writing and artwork from Texas prisoners will not be accessible on Minutes Before Six. My eyes and heart have been opened to the soul of these men and women and I thank them for their honest writings..

April 23, 2016 at 6:20 pmI too have read the rule as written by TDCJ and it does not define social media, nor does it define "engaging." Until TDCJ defines these terms for us, we won't know whether or how the rule applies to our project. Thanks for your support and your patience while we wait for clarification.

April 23, 2016 at 6:14 pmI have a question. I read the rule and it says specifially social media like facebook, twitter and instagram. Blog posts are still permitted as I have read. Can somebody verify that? Doesn´t this website rank as blog? It´s really sad to see all the old posts vanished
