In Memory of My Mother

By Michael Himes

These are the tears
of every apology
I never got to make
thru the years
you wouldn’t even talk to me
hear what I’ve got to say
now your gone
and I won’t get
another chance
to say these words
But Mom
I love you
no matter what
despite all the hurt
despite all the hurt~

We all make bad decisions
it’s a fact of life
but eventually one wrong turn
can be made back right
we all deserve a second chance
a million times
if we show that we’re willing
to try to do what’s right

These are the tears
of every apology
I never got to make
thru the years
you wouldn’t even talk to me
hear what I’ve got to say
now your gone
and I won’t get
another chance
to say these words
But Mom
I love you
no matter what
despite all the hurt
despite all the hurt~

It’s not my place to judge anyone
for anything they might have done
we never know the circumstances
that cause such choices
to become what happens
being righteous isn’t always easy
but it’s always right that’s true
you never know the choice you’ll make
till your feet are in their shoes

These are the tears
of every apology
I never got to make
thru the years
you wouldn’t even talk to me
hear what I’ve got to say
now your gone
and I won’t get
another chance
to say these words
But Mom
I love you
no matter what
despite all the hurt
despite all the hurt~

Getting Better
By Michael Himes

A mind undefined
by the sources from outside
who in time would contrive
your perception of what’s right
based on civilized standards
that were presented by the flawed
when your soul is soo pure
from the beginning made by GOD
Life is perfect so delight
in all the blessings that you have
despite what you’re going through
even when you don’t understand
the universe will never give you
anymore than you can take
just when you feel you’re on the verge
of complete and total break
along comes a sign
that the darkness leads to day
and that there’s strength still inside you
that there IS a saving grace
you are loved beyond measure
more than you will ever know
all you have to have is faith
that these things will pass on too!

STONE CATCHERS SONG OF MERCY
By Michael Himes

None of us are meant to cast a stone
Even though we often do
Life is full of obstacles
We all must struggle though
There’s enough anger and pain in each of us
To fill up bags past full
Allow me to be the stonecatcher
And remove those bags from you
All of us have made mistakes
Most were fueled by anger and pain
It doesn’t justify the decisions we’ve made
But it has the power to take away
Our ability to judge anyone,
For things they may or may not have done
It’s been phrased no better by anyone
“Let he who is sinless cast the first stone!”
So when youweld the sstchel of gavels
Searching for releases
Imagine a stone were to strid YOUR home, and shelter it to pieces
None of us were meant to throw the stones we often cast
So remember before you hurt  your pebbles, your house is made of glass

BROKEN
By Michael Himes

Every one of us is broken
Even though we try to hide,
All of the shattered window pains,
With miserable smiles and lies,
NO ONE exists who is perfect,
Not even a single one,
We all must strive to survive,
From the day our life’s begun,
So who are we to judge each other,
For one another’s faults,
When a toothpick that’s found in one’s eye,
Is another oak tree grown from ours:
If we really attempt to learn the truth,
And help repair our neighbors home,
Through mercy, grace and gratitude,
We’ll inadvertently rebuild our own;
So take the time to have compassion
For everyone you meet
That the broken pieces may one day be
In harmony, complete.
