Sacrilege: The End of An Era
By Chimenzie Akara
Old wives mouth to ear know power
Yesterday back day knower’s nostalgia
Shadow circuit bonded purpose dark prowess
Pure trust earnestness head crowning
Hand to hand who’s counting
Lovely love merge mud move mountains
Blue mounting blew south end
Shrewd counters playing pretend
Clear Stare aware never surrender
Late bender mingle friends lounging
Looking back moment lapse lack then
Sadness madness memories detract
Penance
By Chimenzie Akara
Do you believe in new beginnings? I do
I’ve bared witness to virtuous sinners
Pledging allegiance to an ungodly religion
Sickness sickened ignorance stricken
Hope all but diminished
Now genocide is the mission
Hate rotten hit rock bottom
Surreptitious sage spotted
Seeds planted lesson landed first softens
Love liberated knowledge seeking often
Gratitude for mental latitude
Reincarnated in a coffin
