The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has a history of providing inmates in solitary confinement and the general population with processed foods, genetically modified organs GMO foods and artificial juices. The food PADOC provides to inmates comes from Aramark Correctional Service, LLC. Aramark, like many other “prison profiteers” make money from imprisonment and inmate suffering, including those supplying medical, mental health, communication, money transfer and transportation services. Aramark has a history of selling cheap food products to state county prisons all across the state.
Inmates are forced to eat highly processed foods such as hotdogs, various types of patties, sausages and meatballs, 25% of manufactured vegetables, 75% of potatoes, white rice, white bread, which is extremely hard on an inmate’s digestive system, and causes it to break down into sugar. Aramark food may be bland and carb heavy, and high in sodium. Moreover, drinks fortified with Vitamins C, B12, B6, D and E, Plus Calcium were almost never served in solitary confinement.
There is no escaping processed foods, GMO foods and artificial drinks because it is sold on commissary, and inmates can only order a high amount of junk food items in solitary confinement. Processed foods, GMO foods and artificial drinks create the following:
- Inflammatory brain functioning
- Aging of the brain
- Low blood flow, activity of the brain
- Sleep deprivation
- Neuro hormone issues
- Pseudodementia
- Lyme disease
- Low thyroid
- Alzheimer’s
Research has proven that processed food, GMO food, artificial drinks, jailhouse wine, e-cigarettes, sugar, nitrates and glyphosate contributes to inflammation that affects the mental health of inmates.
An inflammatory brain is when the brain is overloaded with mud causing the brain to be significantly less capable of developing. This causes the undeveloped brain to deteriorate and it makes a young and old or elderly inmate suffer from memory loss. However, this can make an inmate incapable of the ability “to attain a mature understanding of his/her own humanity.” The irresponsible behavior means their irresponsible behavior is not as morally reprehensible as of a healthy, mature brain. The foods we eat give our brain the right nutrients. But unhealthy food cannot provide our brain the right nutrients, and it will affect our mental health, sleep, vision, blood flow, etc. Unhealthy foods are one of the major factors of the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, brainstem, parietal lobe, decipited lobe of the brain to be damaged.
Here are the seven areas of our brain:
- Frontal Cortex – thought
- Broca’s Area – speech
- Olfactory Cortex – smell
- Auditory Cortex – hearing
- Limbic System – emotion
- Visual Cortex – sight
- Sensory Cortex – pain
If the hippocampus side of the brain becomes damaged we lose memory. Unhealthy foods would block the myelination in the brain frontal lobes and limbic system from developing with “white matter” and the tissue that can’t form on pathways among different parts of the brain to increase the gray matter that causes the mind to deteriorate. The brain and mind is supposed to go through growth, development, and more efficiency, improving the executive functions of the frontal lobe. When the limbic system is damaged, we suffer from impulse control disorders, anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.
Daniel Amen MD said: “Most mental mental health is not a mental health issue. It’s a brain heath issue.”
Brain damage and memory loss come from:
- Blood flow, activity matter of the brain
- Retirement, aging
- Inflammation
- Genetic
- Head trauma
- Toxins – alcohol
- Mental health
- Immunity infection
- Neurohormone issues
- Diabetes
- Sleep
These are healthy foods for our brain:
- All natural
- Gluten free
- Fruit filer
- Blueberries
- Colorful vegetables
- Healthy oil – stay away from vegetable oil, corn oil, soy oil
- Nuts and seeds like walnuts, pumpkin seeds, roasted peanuts, cashews
- Chocolate
- Green tea – has polyphenols inside of it
- Almond milk, coconut milk
Supplements to support improved memory:
- Saffron – helps with mood, memory, sex
- Omega-3 fatty acids – helps with hair, nails
- Vitamin B, B6, B12
- Curcumins
- Quercetin
- Ginkgo
- Choline – 90% deficient
- Probiotics
- Smart mushrooms
Tools to heal your brain:
- Exercise – increased blood flow, improved sleep
- Reading – helps with aging, memory
- Meditation – protect your memory, decrease anxiety
- Mental health treatment
- Change diet
- Stop drinking alcohol, jailhouse wine, tropical punch, Gatorade, fruit punch, coffee, hot cocoa, cappuccino
- Stop smoking
Early childhood trauma plays a big part in brain damage, such as:
- Emotional
- Physical abuse
- Neglect
- Deprivation
- Sexual abuse
- Death in the family
- Parent divorce
- Parent incarceration
- Child juvenile incarceration
Reverse childhood trauma:
- Meditation
- Kirtan Kriya
- Master your mind eliminating the Ants – keep a journal, write down your feelings, beliefs. Then question yourself, distinguished from reality, falsehood. Take your original thought that made you sad, reverse it to something positive…
