While incarcerated at SCI Coal Township, SCI Graterford and SCI Phoenix, Larry has written, acted, directed and staged over a hundred plays for the Prison’s population, Lifers Incorporated, The Mental Health Awareness Month Event, The Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month Event, Shining Light, The Christian Community, Mann-Up Program, Psalms-Up Program and for “Let’s Circle Up!” a Restorative Justice Program at SCI Phoenix in Pennsylvania. His play “Fight Another Day!” was staged in 2015 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Feed Truths: short plays from Inside America’s Prisons event. Larry’s play “I’m Here for You” is a 2019 PEN America drama category winner and is published in the book “As I Hear the Rain, PEN America 2019 Prison Writing Awards Anthology”. He is the recipient of the 2024 PEN America/L’Engle-Raham Prize for Mentorship for his essay “My Playwright Mentors” and he’s published in the 2024, 2025 PEN America Zine for his poems “Unseen” and “Penitentiary Theater”. His feature film “Spiritual Warfare” is distributed online under his name on YouTube along with his short films “Heavenbound” and “Horrorscope”. He has multiple plays, poems, screenplays and essays published on various publishing online sites. His play “Behind the Dark Gray Wall” was staged at the Conyers Rockdale Council for the Arts, Black Box Theater in Conyers, Georgia in 2025 and his play “Behind the Dark Gray Wall” can be viewed on YouTube. Larry acted in many films, plays and was an active member of SAG/AFTRA before his incarceration. A biography about his life, entitled “Death by Incarceration” was published in 2017 by author MJ Maccalupo. Larry takes great pride helping others and learning as a “Let’s Circle Up!” Restorative Justice Facilitator, a “Just Listening” facilitator, a student of (EFM) Education for Ministry, a Villanova University/Phoenix program student earning his Bachelor’s degree, a volunteer hospice worker, a (CPS) Certified Peer Support Specialist and acting in the “Shakespeare at Phoenix” program. Almost as much as he loves his family, Larry loves animals. By the grace of God, he hopes to see the ocean again someday. He is forever remorseful for the horrible choice he made decades ago that hurt so many and resulted in his Death by Incarceration prison sentence.
