Bread & Water
By Abel Castillo
I drink water as much as I can throughout the day to help with my anxiety, stay hydrated, and keep my belly full so I won’t starve and to keep my mind off food and hunger.
When I do eat, I eat bread because that is all that I tend to have and have access to most of the time. Most of the food here is uncooked, nasty, and inedible but you can never go wrong with the bread.
P.I.A. bread and Tehachapi hard water is what I ingest most of my days. When nothing else comes through bread & water are my only companions even throughout scarcity like the now in the midst of riots and lockdowns.
Not knowing what tomorrow will bring or have to offer and what I will have to eat, one thing I am sure about is that bread & water will be at my disposal along with pain, suffering, and misery. Those are the only things that will always be counted on here behind the wire.
When all else fails make sure you at least have some bread & water.

- How do you think the world views you?
I think the world views me as someone curious, hungry, with a set program that helps me achieve daily success. Someone obviously with imperfections in the process of transformation. - How do you view yourself?
As part of the rare few in this world who is constantly on the hunt for growth, learning, and success. I view myself as a respectable man who turns pain into fuel. - How is the “public you” different from the “private you”?
Not much different. What I do in private for the most part I display in public, except for moments of pleasure. I always keep integrity & discipline at the forefront of my mind even when I’m alone. - What conditions produce the best version of you?
☐ Competition
☐ Fear of loss
☑ A setback
☑ A victory
☐ Having someone believe in you
☑ A point to prove - Name a ninety-day period of your career during which you were the hungriest to succeed. What drove you?
Many times have I experienced 90 days like this, but the most recent would have to be the beginning of the year when I cut ties with outside forces who were weighing me down, i.e. girlfriend (ex), friends, negative people, etc., and started hitting college courses, reading all kinds of books, exercising, eating good, letting go of worries & burdens. It was the losses I endured around that time that drove me to snap out of it and hit it hard, because I cannot fathom to stay at the bottom in self-pity. - How do you handle a public loss?
Better now than what I used to a couple of years back. I don’t act out of character. I stay calm & composed. Of course, I get angry & upset but it is those emotions I channel into energetic fuel to learn the lesson - Do you have a tendency of blaming others for your lack of effort or discipline? If yes why?
Not anymore once I learned the importance of the two mindsets: victim and growth. If I lack in anything and it shows it is my fault only in which I know to take responsibility and fix it, instead of wasting time & energy on blaming others and playing the victim which the majority often play. Plus doing things like blaming others shows poor leadership skills & qualities and more weakness than strength. - Do you feel you’re entitled to things without earning them?
Not at all! The only things I feel entitled to are my rights as a citizen and what I got coming on behalf of them. Anything beyond I’m going to work to earn them. - How difficult a personality do you have?
☐ Very difficult
☐ Difficult
☐ Somewhat difficult
☑ Easygoing
☐ Very easygoing - Do you get along with people like yourself or can there be only one of you in the room?
I get along with people, but there’s only one of me in the room. - Who do you speak to the most when you’re losing?
☐ People ahead of you
☐ People at the same level as you
☐ People not yet at your level
☑ No one - Who are you secretly envious of that no one knows about? Don’t worry about writing this one down. No one will know your answer but you. How is your relationship with this person you’re most envious of? How much of that envy is due to your not wanting to do the work that this other individual is willing to do?
I’m not envious of no one and that’s a fact. The more people win the better this world will be. - What type of people annoy you the most and why?
The know-it-alls, the ones that play victim, the ones who don’t practice what they preach. The ones who are in denial and not willing to accept change, feedback, and opportunity for growth. Because people like that weigh the good ones down. - What type of people do you like the most and why?
The ones opposite of the ones mentioned in #13. I like people who are receptive and are consistent in their growth and improvement, who know how to control themselves and their emotions and vibrate at a high frequency inside & out. - Who do you collaborate with the most?
No one at the moment besides myself. But if I would collaborate with someone someday it would be with someone who is achieving excellence & greatness and living well. - What qualities and traits do you admire most in others?
Self-respect, grit, resiliency, consistency, integrity, loyalty, endurance, leadership, family-oriented. - How do you handle pressure?
In a stoic like fashion. I muscle through and allow that pressure to build more gems within me. - How often do you challenge your own vision to help improve your perspective?
Every single day I challenge myself and game-plan to enhance the richness of my vision. Challenging myself helps me gain a clearer and more focused perspective to achieve goals & aspirations. - What brings out the worst side of you? Why?
Mean, nasty, ugly people like ex-girlfriends. And injustices that make no sense and can be avoided, but are still handed out even when I’m doing great and walking the talk. - What brings out the best side of you? Why?
Sick ass books, a good night’s sleep, happy positive people. - What do you value the most in business and in life?
Honoring your word, and coming through with your promises. That is first and foremost what I value most in business and life. - What do you fear the most in your line of business?
My line of business right now is making it home from prison. Putting in the work & effort every day to get closer to physical freedom. However, fearing anything is not only exhausting but can be a waste of time if not channeled correctly. Fear is a choice I choose not to always dwell on, because as long as I’m doing right and what I have to do, I will make it to that finish line and anything in life. Thus, fear is not an option anymore. - What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
Having acquired the education, knowledge, information, and wisdom I have in my life now. - Who do you want to be?
A legendary figure. - What kind of life do you want to live?
I want to live a healthy, wealthy, peaceful, happy, luxurious, comfortable life, free of any kind of incarceration, surrounded by beautiful women.
Sunrise to Sunset
By Abel Castillo
From sunrise to sunset
I’m on the go
Working non-stop
TO keep busy and a positive mindset
Up early in the morning
I drink a cup of coffee
As I plan the day ahead
With a lot on my plate
I exit the cell
With a plan and a purpose
To execute all that lays ahead
Walking around the prison yard
In silence
Because deep down I’m strategizing
And tryna figure out a way
How to stack my $
And stay away from violence
From sunrise to sunset
I’m on the go
Walking to Class
By Abel Castillo
Walking to class at night
The fresh air fills my lungs
And clears my mind
The moon shines its light
On the crown of my head
Guiding me to my college class
As I hold my books and look ahead
Possibilities
By Abel Castillo
The world is full of possibilities and to take that risk of stepping out of my comfort zone is a way to acquire what my heart desires.
Anywhere I step foot on this planet I will make the best of it and do my best to accomplish all that I deem necessary and fruitful.
Around a lot of uncertainty, I am certain that being fearless is a key to unlock the greatness within. If others can reach success and greater heights then so can I and I win thru consistency and determination.
Full of possibilities this life is an adventure where happiness and love await me every day.
I need to stay focused and doing what works for me. I like to study, learn and put into practice all that I have absorbed from conversations I had and books I’ve read. Being here in prison has taught me how to improvise, be resourceful and have discipline which to me are very important to progress in life.
Growing up I really never had the guidance, direction or knowledge to live a quality life and that’s why I landed myself in prison. Lacking the knowledge & education that was needed as a kid was part of the reason I’ve spent many years in prison. But little by little I’ve learned how to utilize this time to grow, develop and improve. I still wouldn’t take nothing back because I wouldn’t be who I am today if I did, and I believe to be a person of strength and character.

Posted up kicking back
Meditating on you
I ain’t picture perfect
But I’m perfect for you
And I hope you feel the same
I’m just speaking my truth
I don’t wanna see you cry
Let me be here for you
I done been through Hell and back
Just to show that you’re worth it
Even when they left you hangin’
I stayed and I kicked it
Kut I believe in you
I just want you to heal
You ain’t ever gotta worry
As long as I’m here
Side by side with some loyalty
Is how we gone ride
Hold one another down
Til the day we die
From the pen to the streets
We connected like ties
You my girl and I’m your man
Pay no mind to the critics
They just wish they were us
Pave the way, we the ones
Others wanna be like
But they can’t imitate
This type of love and respect
I won’t change you for the world
Baby know that we blessed.
All-Seeing Eye
By Abel Castillo
The All-Seeing eye can be
Everything and anything under
The sun and moon. As soon as I
Step foot out of the door
There are eyes on me in the
Form of cameras being
Watched by some person
With the motive and the intentions
Of restricting/controlling
My freedom, liberty, movements
This brings me to the questions
Of “Are we ever really free?” “Does
Freedom actually exist?” The All-
Seeing Eye is placed upon each
Each and every one of us either by our
Phones, tablets, co-workers, law-
Enforcement and all their cruel
Corrupt methods they employ on
The masses since the birth of
This nation.
It doesn’t have to be only techno-
Logy that can be considered “All-
Seeing Eye”. Being aware and cautious
Is critical because you never know.
Today’s A New Chapter in World History!
By Abel Castillo
Peacemaker my a##!
America’s president Donald Trump
Called an action today that
Ended up being a strike attack
On Iran, which hit and murdered
A lot of people in bunkers and
Surrounding areas of the nuclear
Plant sites it struck today. All
Was under the command of Trump
The strikes of Iran’s nuclear sites
Bombing and bringing down those
Power plants. With weapons and
Technology that a lot of us had
No clue existed until today even
Thought Trump had clearly stated
Before that he would not do such
Things nor commit acts of war
It is exactly what he did today
And probably has done since he’s
Been in office. Human nature is
Just too powerful to be suppressed.
Today America and the Trump
Administration killed, bombed, slaughtered,
And murdered hundreds of people
Who were just doing their jobs
Or simply around the vicinity.
The American government is no better
Then those they’ve accused in the past
Of terrorist attacks! Murderers,
Criminals, pigs, fascists! Thankx to him
We will enter a war they shouldn’t have started.
Free Us, Free Us All

We are no longer safe
War has come
Iran was bombed
Underground killing hundreds
June 19 2025
Breaking news
What’s to come?
Get sent off to war
Overseas
So our young can die
For a corrupt government
Who don’t give a fuck
About us
We get mistreated
In our own country
Deprive us of our
Rights, citizenship, humanity
But you want us to fight
Your battles
And we don’t even know why
Don’t know the truth
Behind these attacks
Our young go off to war
For you
While you collect all the $
Keep us in poverty
We collect caskets
And fill up cemeteries
For a racist, greedy cause
That has nothing to do with us.
Once Upon A Time I Was 5
By Abel Castillo
Once upon a time I was 5
Didn’t really know how to read
Or how to write
I remember going to school
And I would cry
With my lunchbox in hand
A sandwich with cheese and ham
To me it seemed
Like a faraway land
I would wipe my tears
And stare at the clock
More than I would my own teacher
Who would talk a lot
I just wanted to go home
And jump in my mother’s arms
The only place my heartbeat would stay calm
But the world didn’t care
That’s why I got it in my palm
Time On Top of Miles
By Abel Castillo
I wasn’t born like this
I dived into this
No guidance I ran the streets
Where I smoked my first joint and felt bliss
Pissed
School wasn’t cool I didn’t understand
What it meant to improve I thought
Committing crime was the thing to do
Which caused mom and dad
A lot of sleepless nights
Probably
Tryna figure out what to do? I was
Angry, lost, and out of control
Not knowing
That one day I would do time
For obeying a secret code that secretly
Inspired me to drop out of school
And hit the road five finger discounts
And writing graffiti on the walls
Was my form of therapy and saying
Fuck the law
Where did mom and dad go wrong
Cause I wasn’t born like this
Now I’m doing time on top of miles
Forgetting how my family looks
When they smile
All for hitting the road at the wrong time
When I should have been inside
Elevating my mind
Reading books and figuring out ways how to rise
Out the 9
Cause where I’m from it’s hard to get above
Underneath the stars I use to pray for love
Instead, I got time on top of miles
Away from it all
