What It Means to Be Woke

Woke people are considerate conscious human beings dedicated to the cause of humanity. They understand that this consideration extends beyond their person, family, community, identity, racial, economic, religious or political affiliations.
Woke people are willing to stand up, speak up and out against censorship, government overreach, xenophobia, racism, classism and every other form of isms that have historically and that currently plague the human family.
Woke people believe in a woman’s right to make her own decisions concerning the most intimate details of her body. And that what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes is their personal business, and theirs alone.
Woke people like and love people, rich people, poor people, Black, White, Brown, educated, uneducated, citizen or not. And because they love people, they are willing to join forces, network, communicate with and support other hope filled, good willed, freedom loving, progressive people the world over
Woke people are dedicated to reducing the gap between the haves and have nots and to creating a more just existence between human beings of all colors and creeds. They believe in equality between men and women, and that women should receive equal pay for equal work. Because an injustice to one is an injustice to all.
Woke people know that there are good people in this world, who believe in people over profits. They believe that all human beings should be treated with dignity and respect, because the best among us has some bad, just as the worst has some good. Woke people also know that when the good people of the world stay silent. The voices of hatred, division, and prejudice are the only ones heard, as ignorance always seems to be the loudest. But because we Woke, we can’t and won’t allow them to prevail or to be unchallenged, the stakes are too high.
Now that you know what it means to be Woke, ask yourself or you Woke or still sleep.
