7th Day HEAVEN
By Marquez Clark

1st day I woke up and found you. I was in love by day 2. Day 3 you had me, even more by day 4. Day 5 I knew I only wanted “you” in my life, b-cuz on day 6 I got our first kiss. By day 7 I realized God has sent me an Angel and this love must be heaven….

My Window
By Marquez Clark

As I look out my window, I see cars going by like light within these walls. One can only wish to be free as a bird or a C.O. going in and out of these doors as they please. Keep strong, I tell myself as the sun goes down or the moon falls. Making phone calls to hear joy in families voice to uplift your spirit. Then looking down, staring at 4 walls and back to your window. Only to see the cars go by once again and the cars going by once more outside my window.

Never Too Late for Change
By Marquez Clark

Growing up, watching drug dealers,
Dope fiends, all my life,
So it was inevitable to become one.
I chose money, cars and clothes.
When you’re young watching those things,
You choose a path either long or short.
You don’t know where you’ll end up.
You can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel,
Or the house y0u’ll be living in.
You only see the day-to-day struggle.
Growing up seeing family and friend
Moving on, going to work
To make something of themselves.
Others smoking and stealing things.
You never know where life will take you.
Some may say change is too late…
But that’s only because you don’t want to
Or are afraid of change.
Don’t be…it’s never too late.
Being locked up for these things
Have changed me and opened my
Eyes to new life.
I have school, I have work,
And I’ll be released to a changed life,
As well as mind.
It may take some time,
But never feel it’s too late
To change.
