Dear Young Man

Stand up straight & speak tall,
for you are a soldier. A soldier for whom? For
the babies, for the family, & for you. Let your
mind be known but don’t overspeak. Take
what’s yours but don’t horde & keep. If
they show you love, don’t think you’re weak,
just show some back. When they overstep
don’t hesitate to snap & keep balance in
check.
Don’t be verbose, just watch instead
cause a man of many words is nothing
more than an empty head. Keep your hands
busy but be slow to act because a man
who moves in haste is always quick to
overreact. I know you wanna stay down
but learn yourself first & the rest will
come back around.
