Serve
By Sean Benson
I used to think it would serve me to follow it, but nowadays I go against the grain, glorifying God from the day I changed and haven’t said it since in vain, convinced my frame of mind is different, but the praises go to him, I’m not in it for the clicks and fame, ’cause I’ve been freed from all the * I’m not concerned with all the whips and chains.
So just forget your claims of chip san games, but if your thirst is for the scripture? Same, I can’t just skip the pain, ’cause living in the flesh equals a twisted game, just don’t get lost in all the losses, God is awesome, come get equipped for gains, no bricks, just brains, come lift His name, I prayed for this, safe to say I got the gift like Christmas came, forget the quips and slang, and the gist remains, this is a different plane, then existence aimed at addictions, home, found my Redeemer, He delivered me from the distant shame, and there’s a list of those who mingle in the midst of flames, I can’t be one of those, I know my forgiveness came, but one can’t shake the pain when thoughts of Satan take the brain, I know what it takes to break the chains, but still it takes the same, new life, now every word got wait, explain how I was lost and now I’m found, for heavens sake I won’t forsake the name!
Flesh
By Sean Benson
If a man of humble origins hungers for more, it’s sink or swim until he stumbles to shore again, somebody taught that man to fish, so it’s obvious that he was born to win, and get bored with sin, so he turned to Christ and just got born again this morning, DIED in the flesh, so let them mourn the skin.
Now there’s more to this than normal, showed out to my Savior when the thanks are given, I just pray you’re listening to the wisdom to keep it real, I know what it takes to live in fake, trade clicks for date if that’s the way you’re living, but just don’t say it ain’t forgiven, wait.
Be patient, you never see the anxious winning, and follow the same religion, it’s plain your faith is missing when you make decisions, ’cause you can’t fake the precision of grace, can’t see the light around you, live in darkness, until He makes your vision restored, hindsight is 20/20, see it clearly comma I was trapped in flesh, But I have to stress that I’ve been graced with the presence of the past in depth, and if I had one wish, what would I ask for? Gas, probably the ability to fight until I have to gasp for breath, and keep up the fight until the last one left, thank God I found my Father, and just look at how this bastard’s blessed!
LTS (Letter to Silas)
By Sean Bensen
Though it’s a given that I’m in no position to tell you how to live, I still just hope you listen, cause to be honest, I chose this wisdom for a reason. It’s up to you to hold with open vision, to see it’s open season, for the goals and missions.
To me this equals no decision, choice is easy – keep your focus driven. I promise if you stop and see, really open your eyes to knowledge and philosophies the impossible just possibly, becomes the closest thing to possible, with ease, you can overcome those obstacles and please.
Don’t follow the same arc as me, no easy rate but skip the pain part. It’s up to you to break the chain, start today, get yourself in gear. Don’t stay parked, it ain’t hard. Remain humble and honest that’s the same art.
So, stay devoted to the truth. It’s what you’re supposed to do. I promise you can’t lose. Just keep it close to you, promote it too. I’ve been there, do that, so I know it’s true. The future? I know it’s you; you’re one of the chosen few!!
RW (Razor Wire)
By Sean Benson
So you’re telling me that the quality of my spirit is correlated conversely to the number of convicted felonies? Do the math , it don’t compute, it’s that dispute in what you’re selling me, that outlines the lie in your speech, I’m not buying, I speak my truths, and leave the proof in melodies.
Facts, let’s wax poetic though nowadays corrections equals collections, they’re pretty much identical. I get it though, you turned incarceration into a business, for me it’s pretty tough to let it go, give us rehabilitation and we’d succeed, but what’s the odds? I bet it’s low.
All credit goes to God, I have a voice to speak my doservations, what’s the problem? Face it, the sentiment is lock us down, and that’s the end of conversations? Out of placements, out of patience, so out of sight and out of mind is now the latest, I’m a nuisance, I’m abrasive, now I’m shipping out to five locations.
Close to screaming, close to needing assistance, haunted with insistence by these ghosts and demons, not opposed to scheming for my dreams, told you I’m the poster boy and you still posting meming, so nowhere close to me and alter reality because I took the phone and broke the screen and broke the mold, proceed with caution and approaching me then.
Today
By Sean Benson
Ask for the truth and get no less,
They say don’t stress
But there’s no rest for the wicked,
As of today
I’ve seen a man eat his own flesh
And you don’t get what’s it like
To be in the belly of the beast,
So I guess that means we’re both blessed.
Problems on my own chest,
Hate borders, don’t like fences with barbed wire,
Today I heard a man end his life,
Turned ten to a life sentence,
Count my blessings, I see light in the dark,
See it bright when the light lessens,
And break it down,
Make sure it’s the right message.
So I spell and verse, the fact that
This might be hell on Earth,
Know damn well it hurts,
Just a name and a number,
What is the life of a felon worth?
Look around,
if it’s life or death
Can’t tell what’s worse.
Every day I pray, I won’t see a man
blaze his vein, with a razor blade,
Here they’ll let you bleed out.
Up for days, scared to die,
But I’m not afraid of pain,
So, I try to stay just sane enough
To enjoy the sunshine after days of rain.
Inside this crazy brain, insane,
The more it changes,
The more it stays the same…
LTC (Letter to Car)
By Sean Benson
It’s best if you listen
Don’t be like the rest,
You’re so blessed to be different
Impressions impressive, especially given,
The fact that you’re Car.
So you HAVE to be driven,
In fact, just 11,
This is just the beginning.
I try to give you wisdom, knowledge that I have.
If you pay attention,
You will remember it one day,
When faced with indecision
And it’s a given,
That you’ll face it with grace and intuition.
Follow your heart and nothing but,
It won’t be insufficient.
In addition, never forget that knowledge is power,
Real beauty comes from within.
So never fall for those collagen cowards.
On the surface it seems sweet,
But trust me, all of its sour.
Educate yourself, fool’s gold always glitters
But the heart of gold
Will always be ours.
Be yourself, stick to your own business.
Realize your potential doesn’t know limits.
Reach for the stars, open your eyes.
You’ll see you’re so gifted
Keep your goals, wishes, and dreams in sight.
We only get one life to live
Carlina don’t miss it!
System
By Sean Benson
Listen, this is the problem. I promise the system’s fixed, broken and rigged. It isn’t hit or miss, it’s designed to equip recidivists with tools to reoffend. We can’t pretend it isn’t this, on a daily basis I live with this, so trading places? You wouldn’t even consider this, cause in your eyes, maybe my problems aren’t anthropomorphized, like I’m an animal, close the door guys, lock it and throw away the key, what’s in store guys? Dehumanization, that’s the door prize, family sever more ties, cause you’re acting, telling more lies.
So close your eyes or, look the other way, that’s what the system’s designed for. I don’t know what I despise more, the ones who tell the lies or, the ones who don’t know what they promote the lies for, lyin’ to the public so they don’t know what goes on behind doors, and gates, to them we’re just an eyesore.
Now it breaks us down, drags us down, and we’re already broken. What does that make us now? Take us down a road never traveled, no peace, no such thing as safe and sound, so take it and don’t make a sound, nothing can save us now…
