Judgement Day
By Kyle Triplett

Once the gavel struck,
My world stopped,
Suspended in mid-air.
The judges’ words became deafening clear.
In that very moment,
I was met by mortality.
Everything I once loved,
I watched go down the drain.
In that split-second, my life was taken.
In exchange for my name,
I was given a number.
I became a statistic of the judicial system.
No one to blame,
Just my uncanny ways.
Life is but a vapor.
One day, my life and yours will ultimately fade.
For death is ineluctable.
However, one question remains,
Come judgement day,
Will you walk through those pearly gates,
Or descend to a fiery fate?
