Resist the Urge
By Brian Reynolds
Those in power corporations, the government and the rich, are using the hardships of life, like poverty and prison, to tame and subdue our minds. Like a trainer breaks a horse, they are turning us into mindless creatures of habit willing to accept whatever station in life they tell us is ours. They distract us with an endless stream of instant gratification through movies, sports, unhealthy food and drugs so that we have no desire to consider the future.
Like pigs being fed slop we devour their distractions with no thought of why something so satisfying comes so easily. We must not fall prey to these tactics, we must not let them destroy our minds. Our minds are the only tool we have to shake off their yoke of oppression. We must not be tamed! We must not be diminished by struggle. We must use it instead to improve ourselves. We must fight the urge to be subdued by their mindless entertainment and engage instead in critical thinking and complex thought, it will certainly enrich and give meaning to our oh so short life, but most importantly it will ensure this moment in time that we call a life is actually ours.
Contemplate reality and the reason you exist!
