My name is Bao Vu Nguyen and I am an artist and writer. I have been in prison for over 23 years, serving Life without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP). I am working to make amends for the harm I caused. Thus, I aim to give back and to better my communities and society. To that end, I created and am running an art class called A.H.A. Group.
A.H.A. is an acronym for Art Heals All. I am teaching other incarcerated people to paint (acrylics mostly). As a group, we seek to heal traumas that led to criminal past as well as to atone for harms done to victims and survivors. Our mission statement is to give back and contribute to community and society through living amends. We want to donate artworks and to auction artworks with all of the proceeds going to charity.
