Submissions
Minutes Before Six is open to all types of writing – fiction, memoirs, essays, poetry, etc. – and artwork. However, to be eligible for publishing on our website, submissions must be original and previously unpublished elsewhere.
Further, while the contributions from people incarcerated in the United States currently dominate our website, we welcome submissions from those being held in prisons elsewhere around the world too!
Submissions can be mailed to us for consideration at:
Minutes Before Six
2784 Homestead Road #301
Santa Clara, CA 95051
Or emailed to our Executive Director, Dina, at: dina@minutesbeforesix.com
- We request, when possible, written submissions be typed single-sided, double-spaced, with one-inch margins all around. However, handwritten submissions will also still be considered.
- Artworks should be submitted as photographs (the higher the resolution, the better!).
- New contributors are asked to include their current contact information, a short biography and a photo.
- Contributors will be notified if their submissions are selected for publication on our website.
- Published comments relating to individual submissions on the website will also be shared with the relevant contributor.
Please note, we assure any contributors that they retain the rights to all of their submitted works. Minutes Before Six does not own, buy or sell any of the submissions it exhibits; we simply provide an accessible platform to display the writings and artworks that prisoners provide us.
